Bishop Robert’s Christmas Message

In one of our best-loved carols, Christina Rossetti situates the birth of Jesus ‘in the bleak midwinter’. She paints a severe and freezing manger scene, with howling wind and deep snow. She represents the frosted earth and water with iron and stone. From the biblical narrative, it seems unlikely that Jesus was born in the bleak mid-winter, as the shepherds would not be putting their sheep out to pasture in freezing conditions. But that does not stop…

Hope which does not disappoint

The Rev’d Dr Robert Crouse Summary Fundamental to any genuine renewal of Christian life in our church and in ourselves must be a renewal in the essential Christian virtues of faith, hope and charity, ‘a trinity of virtues and a unity of grace,’ whereby our souls are conformed to the life of God the Holy Trinity.  These virtues are gifts of God by his Word and Holy Spirit for our salvation, and they are nurtured…

A supported Charity update

Here are a number of photos from Priya Mobach showing how (with the assistance of funds donated to charitable giving) she has organised another charity project in Sri Lanka on November 7th. With the help of extended family living locally she identified 25 very poor families with kids and delivered enough groceries to keep them going for 2-4 weeks. She was able to follow the distribution on facetime and hence get pictures. She wishes to…

AGM Reports & Elections

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 25 October by Zoom because of the restrictions on gatherings of more than 30 people and to help the Government’s efforts to minimize the transmission of the corona virus. The meeting had around 35 participants at the maximum and lasted for just over two hours. If you are interested in following up on the presentations given at the AGM, you can download the reports here: The Chaplain’s…

ELECTORAL ROLL 2020

The Chaplaincy Electoral Roll was renewed in 2019 so this year only new members need to fill in forms. All church members are allowed to vote at the Annual Church Meeting, offer themselves for election to Council or various formal committees or as an officer, such as Churchwarden.  It is also important for the Chaplaincy that we have accurate information. The number of members on the Electoral Roll influences the size of our Council, the…

New Choir director

After a two-month selection process, we believe the right person has been found to lead our choir and church music into the future: Mr Freek Elbers has been appointed Choir Director and Organist at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Utrecht. Freek began with choir rehearsals at Holy Trinity last week and we hope that he and the choir will be able to provide recordings for our Sunday worship.  We look forward to the day when…
