Update on Heilige Geest Church- The Home of All Saints, Amersfoort

As you know, since All Saints formally began on 20th December 2015, Heilige Geest Kerk – a Roman Catholic church building no longer used for Sunday Mass– has been our home. We have found the building a wonderful place to use with its facilities, spaces for socialising, and for children’s work. We have also shared the Sunday use of the building with a small Ethiopian Orthodox Community. The Roman Catholic authorities have agreed a sale…

Heroes of the Faith- John Venn (B. 1759 D.1813)

John Venn had come from a smaller church to a large, educated, wealthy parish. He was advised to be careful else parishioners would feel he’d come to change everything. He was also advised to be careful in case his wealthy parishioners become offended! There was also advice from another quarter – from William Wilberforce – a member of that congregation at Clapham. Wilberforce advised him to challenge his congregation right from the start!

(c14th century) Epiphany comes to an end with the Presentation of Christ in the temple, (Febuary 2nd). Grant Crowe – Amersfoort Chaplain, Planting & Replanting Churches in the Centre of the Netherlands

The Anglican Chaplaincy in Utrecht has been doing some serious gardening this past year! We have a small church building in Utrecht and for the last few of years had the “problem” of bursting at the seams. Our church can fit 90 to 100 comfortably but we often had 130 and many more for major services, and even with adding three early morning services per month (and many chairs) we were finding ourselves overfull. A…

Amersfoort Chaplain’s Report to the AGM 2016

Looking back and Looking forward. At All Saints Anglican Church, we are thankful for where the Lord has brought us to. We have regular numbers of around 80-90 including children. Many who attend have had connections with Holy Trinity but others who attend have not. Currently we have 90% I estimate Dutch nationals attending regularly. We are thankful for the people – all ages and all sorts – who attend. We are thankful for the…
