After a two-month selection process, we believe the right person has been found to lead our choir and church music into the future: Mr Freek Elbers has been appointed Choir Director and Organist at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Utrecht.
Freek began with choir rehearsals at Holy Trinity last week and we hope that he and the choir will be able to provide recordings for our Sunday worship. We look forward to the day when we can have organ playing with singing led by the choir in person on Sundays and you can have the opportunity to welcome Freek personally.
In the whole process we are grateful to the following people: to another Freek, Freek Dill from our congregation, who has helped in preparing for the selection process by gathering together and summarizing the hopes of the choir and Council for the future position of Choir Director / Organist; to members of our choir who were involved in the try-outs of the applicants in rehearsals and gave their input; and to the Selection Committee members – Fr David Phillips, Kit de Bolster, Simon Urquhart and Beth Houdijk – who gave so much of their time and talents to discern who should lead our music here into the future.
